Paco García
From his studio in the picturesque city of Rosarito
Beach, a place known all over the world because
of its wonderful beaches, its romantic atmosphere
and the friendliness of its people, Francisco Javier
Garcia Zamora, known simply as “PACO G”,
has painted the most famous places of the Mediterranean,
California and Baja California Coast. He is one
the favorite artists of this place, not only locally
but internationally.
Paco’s style could be defined as “interpretative
impressionism”. Using oil and acrylic paints,
he creates raised textures to cause a third dimension
effect. His works comprise valleys full with flowers,
railings facing columns, arches and marine landscapes
with coastal areas where you literally have the
sensation to be a part of the picture.
However, Paco is not limited to this motifs and
technique; he also works using an impressionist
technique with a spatula, placing his view of the
world on his paints. When you see his work you
can almost feel a spiritual peace because the artist
wants to project his peaceful impression of the
world through his work. His paintings are almost
like a musical composition where the colors dance
and change.
Paco García was born in Saltillo, capital
of the State of Coahuila, son of Jose Garcia and
Petra Zamora. It was his mother who inherited him
the appreciation for the beauty of the world and
also his artistic inclination. He arrived in Ensenada
when he was only 9 years old, and the first time
he saw the sea he was very impressed by its beauty
and power. At a later date, for the first time
he would walk barefoot on the sand in Rosarito
Beach. In 1953, his mother opened an art gallery
in Ensenada, and this allowed Paco to grow up surrounded
by paints and brushes.
Paco’s work has been shown in the best
galleries in Laguna Beach, La Jolla, San Francisco,
Carmel, Minnesota and Japan. It is in this country
where his art work is greatly appreciated. He has
had more than 15 shows in Japan and he has also
been invited to be the guest artist in several
other shows, along with original works by Miro,
Shagal, Picasso, Goya and others.
Today his work is shown in many great galleries
around the world and his quality and artistry are
widely recognized.
Luz Maria Hernandez, Paco’s wife, is also
a recognized artist whose works have a more modern
technique and are full of bright colors. She has
had great success and presently her works are shown
at the Italian gallery right across from Quinta
del Mar.
Luz says she has found her inspiration working
along her husband with whom she has been married
for 15 years. Their daughters Marisol, 15, and
Dulce, 9, have inherited their parents’ artistic
inclination and they both draw and paint. Both
have also already sold some of their work.
Both artists are preparing a show in the lobby
of the Rosarito Beach Hotel next May 28, 29 and
30.
