PANORAMIC VIEWS
* At Punta Estrella you can collect sea shells and enjoy the endless view . From the foot of the Virgin's hill you can observe all of the bay and the sea walk. La Hacienda is another place to observe the sunrise or the sunset.
THERMAL WATERS
* Some 98 kilometers South of town, in Puertecitos, there are thermal waters and basic services such as: gas station, boat ramp, etc.
BEACHES
* From May to October the water is warm, and cool from November to April. The entire bay is free from any contaminants.
VALLEY OF THE GIANTS (CARDONES)
*Since the extraction and sending to Sevilla, Spain, of one of the best examples of these giant dessert plants, this place has rapidly become a tourist attraction and it has even awakened the interest of professional photographers who use it as a background for their work. The valley is located 14 kilometers south of town, at the foot of the mountains.
CONSAG ISLAND
* This island is 100 meters high and it has an area of some 42 acres. It is southeast of San Felipe and it contains a large population of sea wolves, seals, and many species of marine birds. It takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour to reach the island in normal sailing conditions.
TOURIST CAMPS
* Both North and South of San Felipe, there are many Tourist Camps, all of them adapted to their natural surroundings. This is with beach, rocks or cliffs. Some of them are very populated with trailers, mobile homes and even houses.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PUERTECITOS
AND THE VALLEY OF THE GIANTS

PUERTECITOS
LOCATION
* It is situated some 98 kilometers (61 miles) South of San Felipe .
LAND ACCESS
* All the road from San Felipe to Puertecitos is paved and in acceptable conditions. There are 36 creeks that cross the road (normally dry), so you should drive at a moderate speed and calculate it is going to take about one hour and 20 minutes to negotiate.
ACTIVITIES
* There are thermal waters in natural stone tubs in town, at some 150 meters from the boat ramp. The water in the bay is so clear that it is an open invitation for snorkeling and diving. There is also great sport fishing.
SERVICES
* There is a small hotel with 5 rooms and restaurant service. Gas station, boat ramp, sport fishing boats, grocery store, etc.
SPORT FISHING
* There are sea bass, curvina, yellow tail, barracuda, rooster fish, marlin, and many other local species. (Totoaba is permanently of limits)

* At kilometer 14+200 of the Puertecitos road, on the opposite side of the ocean.

ACTIVITIES
* This place has awakened the interest of professional photographers that use it as background for their shoots.
ACCESS
* From the North, turn right leaving the paved road and after passing the Punta Estrella hills, you will be in this valley where you can find some plants up to 15 meters tall. Four wheel drive vehicles or pick ups are recommended for this road.
NOTE
* These plants are erroneously called "SAHUAROS", when their proper name is "CARDON", so the place should be called "VALLEY OF THE CARDONES"
OBSERVATIONS
* As of the extraction and transportation of the best and largest Cardón to the Expo '92 in Sevilla, Spain, this place has gained wirld renown and popularity.
