The director Artes por Todas Partes in Rosarito Beach, Armando Gonzalez de la Fuente , today announced that painting will begin immediately on a new wall mural, entitled “A happy day at the beach”, on the wall of the sports field on the corner of Calle Francisco Villa and Benito Juarez, next to the recently remodeled Ejido Mazatlan shopping center. ( the road to La Estancia Restaurant, with the water wheel on the corner at Benito Juarez) The main purpose of Artes por Todas Partes is to stimulate an interest in art for the children of Rosarito. The new mural will provide a chance for kids of all ages to actually paint part of it, thereby not only learning about art but actually experiencing it and becoming a part of the work, giving them a sense of involvement, pride, and ownership in “their’ mural. Moodie Diego Baker, a retired artist from Arizona, has volunteered to be in charge of the project. He will be assisted by several college and high school art students. In addition, world re-known local artists David Silva of Baja Galleries in Rosarito and Becris Armando of Polo Gallery in Popotla have agreed to sketch elements of the artwork, allowing others to fill in the colors, with the artists finishing their elements at a huge fiesta when the work is almost complete. This offers an amazing opportunity for local kids and teen-agers to actually create a work of art with two of Mexico’s most respected and admired Artists! “I have enjoyed appreciating, and creating, art, for my entire life”, said Diego. “Now that I am retired, I want to do all I can to give back my love of art to the Children of Rosarito, give them a chance to learn about art, and help create a work of art that will be available for all to see for many years to come, and most importantly, to give them pride in themselves for having done it. Who knows….maybe there is another Silva or Becris out there, waiting to be discovered, just needing someone to light that fire inside him or her!” For more details or to volunteer please contact Diego at 619-272-3877, or check for details on Facebook sites “Artes por todas Partes” or “Moodie Baker”. Everyone is welcome to come help paint the mural, regardless of their age or ability (or lack of same)! NO ART EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO HELP! We also really need some older people to help the younger children with handling the paint, brushes, cleaning up, assisting them to make their experience even better. It would be great to have as many Americans participate to show our Mexican neighbors how much we appreciate art, that we all realize how important it is for them to be able to experience it themselves, and most importantly, that we do care about them and want to make their lives a little bit brighter!!!
